Happy Birthday | Rani Mukherjee turns 34 today

Mumbai: Khandala girl Rani Mukherjee is celebrating her 34th birthday today. Reports revealed that the hazel-eyed actress will spend quality time with her family on this special occasion.

Born on March 21, 1978, Rani gave a cameo appearance in her father's Bengali film 'Biyer Phool' in 1992. Her father is a retired director and one of the founders of Filmalaya Studios while her mother was a playback singer. Renowned actress Kajol is her cousin.

Rani made her acting debut with 'Raja Ki Aayegi Barat' in 1997. The film failed at the box office but her character as a rape victim received lots of appreciation.

In 1998 with Vikram Bhatt's 'Ghulam', opposite to actor Aamir Khan, Rani made a huge comeback as the movie did moderately well at the box office. From the song "Aati Kya Khandala" she gained much popularity.

Another successful movie of the actress in the same year was Karan Johar's 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' in which she played the supporting role. Rani received her first Filmfare Award in the Best Supporting Actress category for the same.

She also played lead characters in 'Mehndi' (1998) and Hello Brother (1999) and these films were critically and commercially failed.

Action drama 'Badal', 'Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega', 'Nayak: The Real Hero' 'Bunty Aur Babli', 'Saathiya', 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' 'Chalte Chlate' and 'Calcutta Mail' are some of other movies in which she played pivotal role.

Rani earned applauds from every person in the film industry for her excellent performance in 'Yuva' for which she bagged her second Best supporting actress award at the Filmfare Awards.

Her character as Rhea Sharma in 'Hum Tum' opposite to Saif Ali Khan helped her winning several Best Actress Awards including her first Filmfare Award for best actress.

'Veer Zara', 'Paheli', 'The Rising', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and 'Paheli' are some of the another hits given by Mukherjee. The actress surprised her fans with her tremendous performance in 'Black' and won Filmfare Award for best actress 2006.

Rani's 2011 released 'No One Killed Jessica', based on Jessica Lal murder case, was also a blockbuster at the box office.
Now the actress is all set to rock the silver screen with her amazing acting skill in her upcoming flick 'Talaash'.

Rani Mukherjee celebrated her birthday with Aditya Chopra in London?

On her birthday last week, Rani Mukherjee reportedly took out time from her film shoots to fly to London to spend quality time with her alleged beau, Aditya Chopra.

Bollywood’s most secretive couple is in the news again, for the same reason as before. Last time -- in January to be precise -- they were spotted at airport while returning from a New Year holiday in New York and London. Now, Rani Mukherjee and Aditya Chopra are reported to have celebrated the birthday of the former in London last week. Yash Chopra was also with them.

We hear that Rani Mukherjee took a break from shooting an Anurag Kashyap movie last week and flew to London where Aditya Chopra is busy with the production of the Yash Chopra flick starring Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in leading roles. Rani and Aditya spent some quality time together on March 21 (Rani’s birthday) and went for dinner with Yash Chopra and Shahrukh Khan.

Yash Chopra seems to have given his nod to the relationship between his son Aditya, 40, and Rani, 34. And Rani’s family too think it’s high time she got married.

Earlier the couple were very cautious about being seen together. But in January this year, they were spotted walking out of the Mumbai airport just a few paces apart, giving the first sign that they are getting comfortable about their relationship being known to public.

Now the questions remains: when will they get married?
